Leslie Salmon-Zhu, Graphic Recorder
Leslie Salmon-Zhu has been a professional Graphic Recorder for
more than ten years, consulting in over 500 meetings in diverse
industries such as healthcare, the arts, financial institutions,
government, non-profits, education, interfaith groups, large corporations
and community building organizations.
Leslie's work supports and enhances group process, dialog, and
understanding by way of visibly recording via text and graphics
the key points of meetings. The visual record in mural form "holds"
meeting notes in front of the group so that all ideas can be easily
viewed, expanded on and categorized. When later photographed into
8 1/2 x 11 form, the murals become a reliable record from which
a meeting report can be created.
Leslie states that in doing her work, the key personal value she
holds is to "deeply care about and commit to writing" the essence
expressed by each participant. This enables her to listen fully
for long periods and to not only record spoken words but also
to capture the "energy behind the words" through the use of color
and images. Her ultimate goal for each consultation is to create
an accurate, expressive, usable record from which a client can
reflect, learn and build upon.
