Barbara Quint, Information Consultant
Barbara has provided information consulting to the database industry
and online research for a broad array of subjects, including policy
research, competitive intelligence and news. In addition to consulting,
she serves as editor of leading database magazines, first with
Database Searcher and currently with Searcher Magazine.
For nearly 20 years, Barbara worked in the RAND Corporation library,
serving a wide array of information needs for a leading national
policy research institute and eventually becoming Head of Reference
Services. In 1975, she became one the first professional librarians
to search for information online, eventually accessing over 30
commercial online search services.
Barbara writes a monthly column in Information Today and contributes
to publications such as Online and Database. She is a speaker
at major national, state, regional conferences, including Online
World, Internet Librarian, Computers in Libraries, and professional
association meetings like SLA, ALA and MLA.
Barbara received her B.A. and M.L.S. from Immaculate Heart College
in Los Angeles, California.
